Aadhaar Card New Rules 2025: 3 New Rules Every Holder Must Know from November

New Aadhaar Rules – Learn About 2025: UIDAI has announced several new rules after November 7, 2025, to make Aadhaar even more secure, convenient, and accessible to everyone. These rules will directly apply to banking, tax filing, and the use of government schemes. The aim is to simplify digital services, reduce physical travel, and enhance data security.

Online Updates from Home

Many Aadhaar details (name, address, mobile number, etc.) can now be updated online from the comfort of your home. Log in to the UIDAI portal with your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, select “Update,” and upload documents like PAN, passport, or voter ID. Automated verification ensures quick and secure processing of requests. This will greatly benefit the elderly, the disabled, and those living in remote areas.

Fee Changes

The fee for online updates is now ₹75.
The fee for biometric updates (fingerprint, iris, photo) has been kept at ₹125.
Biometric updates will be free for those aged 5–7 and 15–17 years to correct age-appropriate records.

For offline or home visits, the service will cost ₹700 for the first person and ₹350 per person for additional members at the same address.

Note: Online document updates were free until June 14, 2026.

Aadhaar–PAN linking now mandatory

Linking Aadhaar and PAN has now been made mandatory. The deadline is December 31, 2025.

From January 1, 2026, PAN cards that are not linked will be automatically deactivated, which may cause problems filing ITRs, opening new bank accounts, and other financial transactions.

Aadhaar verification will now be mandatory for new PANs as well, to prevent duplicate identities and the creation of duplicate PANs.

KYC and verification simplified

The KYC process has been simplified for banks, NBFCs, and other institutions. Aadhaar OTP, video KYC, and physical verification (if required) complete customer identification. This process is paperless and expedites the account opening process.

Improved Security and Transparency

Online updates, stringent biometric verification, and a digital audit trail reduce the risk of fraud and identity misuse. Improved encryption and document verification keep your personal information secure. UIDAI has strengthened backend protocols so citizens can update with confidence.

Why are these changes necessary?

These rules make identity management faster, cheaper, and more forward-looking. Home-based services, reasonable fees, and Aadhaar–PAN linking will improve data accuracy and streamline services. Update and link only through the official UIDAI website or app—avoid unauthorized agents/websites.
